About Me
My name is Katherine Anderson. I founded K2A2 Consulting based upon the idea that better design is choreographed. Optimal product performance is possible when product need and design are assessed within the teams, workflows and environments that the product(s) will be used in.
Throughout my youth and in to my college years, I performed and studied all forms of dance. This is where I learned the importance of choreography and flow. In college and graduate school at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville, I studied Biomedical Engineering with a focus in Biomechanics. I started my professional career in orthopedics designing instrumentation for knee and shoulder implants.
For the past 12 years, I have worked with companies to build basic surgical instrumentation, complex robotic and digital platforms that assist with surgical applications across a wide variety of surgical specialties. These include: Orthopedics, General, Gynecology, Urology, Thoracic surgery and lung diagnostics, ENT, Microsurgery, Vascular Surgery, and Plastics, among others.
I have performed design research, designed and tested products, developed procedures with thought leaders, built and led multi-functional teams, designed workspaces and lab facilities, led pre-clinical and human factors studies, and helped launch clinical trials. I am knowledgeable about all phases of product development, from early research through post market studies.
Over the course of my career, I have worked at a number of industry leading companies in the orthopedics, robotics and digital platform space. I have also advised and consulted with several startups.
My goal with K2A2 Consulting is to help simplify and improve the process of building innovative teams and products in the medical space. I welcome collaborations with individuals, universities, hospitals, startups, and industry partners.
